Police officers investigating a fatal road collision near Shrewsbury today appealed for anyone who saw the vehicles involved being driven shortly before the accident to come forward. Jonathan Humphreys, 17, died in the crash, which happened in Huffley Lane, near Bomere Heath shortly before 1pm on Wednesday January 30. He was a rear seat passenger in a red Vauxhall Corsa, which was in collision with a grey BMW travelling in the opposite direction. Jonathan, from Baschurch, was pronounced dead at the scene and seven other people were taken to hospital, including the female driver of the Corsa who suffered serious leg injuries and was air-lifted to North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary. Another three passengers from the Corsa and three people from the BMW were taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Constable Mark Naylor, who is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, today made a renewed appeal for witnesses and also urged anyone who saw the cars being driven beforehand to come forward. He said: "We know that the Corsa left McDonalds restaurant in Battlefield Road at about 12.40pm, in company with two other vehicles, a blue-green Peugeot 306 and a silver Vauxhall Astra. The occupants of those other cars have already been spoken to as witnesses. "We are keen to hear from anyone who saw the Corsa being driven after it left the restaurant, before the collision which occurred a few minutes later. "If anyone saw the BMW being driven beforehand, which was heading towards Shrewsbury from Bomere Heath in the opposite direction to the Corsa, then I would ask them to also come forward and call 08457 444888
